Day 2 #PubCon

The beauty of networking (offline, this time)

I wandered into the Brand Management lecture and after attending this event for the last 3 years I am finding that although PubCon is a great conference, some of the information is starting to sound a little deja vu.

So...I missed the next lecture and some speakers. So here is Reem Abeidoh, a Social Search Strategist with outrider.com. So I asked her, "How do you put the corporate clients at ease with Social Marketing?" It has been my experience that some of the very large corporations are seriously timid about using social media. Her suggestion was to get them to crawl – walk – run. In other words get your customers whoever they may be use to the new media tools SLOWLY and build a comfort level. Like an intranet wiki page would be a great start.

Next, I was very honored to meet Lee Odden from TopRank Online Marketing who gave me some great suggestions on how to manage my brand by buying all relevant urls and monitoring my company url online to avoid copycat websites.

I caught Melanie Mitchell from FolioFN.com. In her speech she mentioned that many company don't rely on search to get their message across. She cited a large entertainment company as a good example. They spent tons of money promoting a new movie on their website that features a prominent actress but never thought to promote it on the search engines.

By the way, I guess the thing to do today when you introduce yourself is to ask if you can follow their updates on Twitter. @websuccess
